International Sediment Initiative Conference

Pointing out that one per cent of the world's water storage capacity is lost every year through sediment deposition in reservoirs, UNESCO's International Hydrological Programme is organizing the International Sediment Initiative Conference in Khartoum, Sudan , November 12 to 15, 2006. The conference will review techniques and technology for sediment monitoring, assessment, management, capacity building and research as well as look at socio-economic and environmental impacts of sedimentation.
