IUCN Botswana and the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Botswana (UB) - an IUCN member -- are launching a seminar series, Environment & Development Forum, to provide a platform for information sharing, dialogue and networking to improve policy-making, planning and management of Botswana's natural resources for sustainable development. The Forum will open on October 12th at UB with the topic, “Turning desertification into new opportunities — economic valuation of Botswana’s drylands” with IUCN President Valli Moosa, former Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism in South Africa.
The official launch of the new Forum celebrates the 2006 International Year of Deserts and Desertification.
