UN World Water Development Report

The United Nations released its second World Water Development Report, Water: a shared responsibility, on World Water Day, March 22nd 2006. UN family organizations have contributed to the content: UNDP, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN-ECE) about governance, UN-HABITAT about urban water supply and sanitation, UNESCO, World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about global resource issues, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to coastal and freshwater ecosystems, WHO and UNICEF about water-related health issues, FAO and IFAD about agricultural use of water, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) about industrial use of water and energy production, WMO, International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR) and United Nations University (UNU) about water and risk, UNESCO about water sharing mechanisms, United Nations Department of Economic Affairs (UN-DESA) about valuation and charging for water, and UNESCO about the state of water knowledge.
