Fisheries seminars at HOORC

This week Jeppe Kolding, visiting fisheries biologist from the University of Bergen in Norway, has been presenting a series of three seminars about his research on African freshwater fisheries. Dr Kolding has been looking at fisheries management in the Lake Victoria basin, the Bangwelu Swamp in Zambia and on both sides of Lake Kariba in Zambia and Zimbabwe. His findings indicate that unclear management priorities, rather than overfishing, is the main impediment to effective use of fish resources in these regions. You can read more about Dr Kolding’s research by looking at Management, Co-Management or No Management and Feasibility Study and Appraisal of Fish Stock Management in Okavango in HOORC’s Library.
