Impala habitat research
HOORC researchers Casper Bonyongo’s and Susan Ringrose’s collaborative research with Frans P.J. van Bommel and others on impala habitat in the Okavango Delta has been published in the January issue of the Journal of Tropical Ecology. The researchers used satellite imagery of vegetation in the Delta to improve knowledge of the habitat of impala in areas where it is difficult to make observations on the ground. Remotely sensed habitat indicators for predicting distribution of impala (Aepyceros melampus) in the Okavango Delta, Botswana can be found in HOORC’s Library.
