Linking Climate Adaptation Network

An interesting new web site from ELDIS: the Linking Climate Adaptation (LCA) Network, funded by the Department for International Development and implemented by the Institute of Development Studies , is a web-based discussion forum that aims to help communities, policy-makers, practitioners and academics share experiences and knowledge about adaptation to climate change. The Network also intends to facilitate action research for climate change adaptation by vulnerable communities and to host moderated online discussions on key adaptation topics.

The site also offers an Adaptation topic guide which includes: an introduction to the key issues and debates in the field of adaptation, access to selected adaptation resources and summarised papers - available online and categorised under a number of key themes and geographic regions, an index of organisations working on climate change adaptation, and announcements of events, such as the workshop to be hosted by IDS and Action Aid International in Nairobi, Kenya between the 25th and 28th March 2006, "Future climate adaptation challenges: building capacity for African based research".

It is easy to join the network: instructions are on the home page of the site, which also links to the ELDIS Climate Change Resource Guide.
