World Water Forum

The 4th World Water Forum will take place March 16–22, 2006, in Mexico City under the main theme “Local Actions for a Global Challenge.” Organized by the World Water Council and Mexico's Comisión Nacional del Agua (CONAGUA), the conference calls for an improved involvement of local actors in the social construction of a water vision and a more appropriate channeling of international support from diverse institutions and networks of organizations towards specific local actions.

The Africa Regional Directive Committee for the meeting met in Windhoek, Namibia on December 8 and 9 2005. Government Ministers, senior functionaries of regional water management institutions, water experts and groups of interest from several African countries participated in finalizing the Africa Regional Report, and the contribution of this continent to the Ministerial Declaration that will be sent to the dialogue table during the Forum. Thematic papers, including one titled Application of Science, Technology and Knowledge, are available on the conference site.

The World Water Forum is held every three years.
