UN Pulse has highlighted the World Health Organization's publication of Ecosystems and Human Well-being: Health Synthesis, the latest in the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment series of reports focusing on ecosystem services -- the benefits people obtain from ecosystems. Other reports in the series are the Biodiversity Synthesis Report, Desertification Synthesis Report, Business & Industry Synthesis Report, and Wetlands Synthesis Report, as well as Living Beyond Our Means: Natural Assets and Human Well-being, an interpretation of the key messages to emerge from the assessment process. The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment programme, designed help to meet assessment needs of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Convention to Combat Desertification, the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, and the Convention on Migratory Species, includes studies of river basins in the Southern African Sub Global Assessment (SAfMA). Reports may be downloaded from the programme site.
