Pitzer College Presentation-Dr. Michael Ballagh

Yesterday at ORI, Dr. Michael Ballagh from Pitzer College, gave a presentation explaining possible collaborative partnerships with the institute. In his introduction, he chronicled the history of Pitzer initiatives in Africa and its focus of cultural immersion of the students. He cited several new initiatives undertaken with the University of Botwana, notably the development of a cheap vaccine for livestock diseases, and the reinforcement and strengthening of the student exchange programme. His concluding marks centred on the Robert Redford Conservancy programme, which seeks to " provide opportunities for nationally and internationally renowned visitors to reside for a time, to complete their own work and to contribute to campus programs and activities at Pitzer College".
