This strategy provides the vision and direction for all UNEP activities for the period 2010−2013 through six cross-cutting thematic priorities namely, climate change, disasters and conflicts, ecosystem management, environmental governance; harmful substances and hazardous waste; and resource efficiency – sustainable consumption and production; each one of them including an "objective" and "expected accomplishments". It is intended to enable UNEP to deliver on its mandate and meet the expectations of Governments and its stakeholders in responding to global environmental challenges and opportunities by creating a framework for: (i) focused, effective and efficient delivery of results; and (ii) clear and transparent monitoring and evaluation of performance.
