Okavango Delta wins 2010 Destination Stewardship Award
World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced yesterday that the Okavango Delta Ramsar site (ODRS) won the 2010 Destination Stewardship Award. It was one of the three finalists in that category which included Mount Huangshan Scenic Site in China and Country of Montenegro (Eastern Europe). The Botswana Tourism Board (now Botswana Tourism Organisation) had submitted the ODRS in the competition.The other finalist from Botswana was Wilderness Safaris in the Global Tourism Business Award category, but the award went to Accor group of hotels, a France based global company. Other awards were the Conservation Award which went to Emirates Hotels & Resorts and the Community Benefit Award scooped by Whale Watch Kaikoura (New Zealand).Congratulations to Botswana Tourism and Wilderness Safaris.
