WINISIS Version 1.5 Training for North West Information Specialists
The BIOVANGO Project in collaboration with the HOORC Library held the second North West Information Specialists training workshop on the WINISIS open source software, on Thursaday last week. This workshop was facilitated by Tonderai Chanakira, a WINISIS expert from Namibia. WINISIS a database management software was developed by UNESCO and is widely used by libraries in developing countries. The workshop covered the following: power point presentation on what WINISIS is all about, hardware requirements need to run WINISIS, Installing WINISIS on the computer, steps in database design, Boolean search expressions and the display formats. The workshop was attended by librarians from schools, colleges and other institutions from in and around Maun.
