Nairobi Declaration on climate change

The Third Special Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment on Climate Change (25 - 29 May 2009) adopted a declaration that aims to ensure adequate adaptation to climate change in the areas of water resources, agriculture, health, infrastructure, biodiversity and ecosystems, forest, urban management, tourism, food and energy security and management of coastal and marine resources. The United Nations Environment Programmes reported that this Nairobi Declaration highlights the need for a coherent financial mechanism to battle climate change, with equitable governance and simplified access procedures.
