Africa as carbon sink

Field measurements in the Okavango Delta from the CarboAfrica site

UNPulse has alerted us to CarboAfrica, an international research project of 15 institutions from Africa and Europe. The project has released initial findings that indicate that Africa may be a carbon sink, meaning that it takes more carbon out of the atmosphere than it releases. The preliminary findings were the focus of Africa and Carbon Cycle: the CarboAfrica Project, a conference held in Accra, Ghana in late November 2008.
