HOORC had a visit today from Dr Mara Goldman, a postdoctoral fellow at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi, who is working on participatory politics and communication processes of pastoral communities in Kenya and Tanzania. Dr Goldman is here looking at the way Botswana is implementing community based conservation, and alerted us to the site of The World Initiative for Sustainable Pastoralism, a global UNDP/IUCN/GEF programme that supports the empowerment of pastoralists to sustainably manage drylands resources.
