Sustainable use of biodiversity workshop
The African Regional Workshop on Sustainable Use will be taking place in Nairobi, Kenya on the 12th to 15th of December. The third regional workshop organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, the meeting’s agenda includes review of the Addis Ababa Principles and Guidelines for the Sustainable Use of Biodiversity, application of the guidelines to agricultural biodiversity in particular and discussion of cost implications of ecosystem services assessment and adaptive management. Participants in the workshop have been invited to present case studies of sustainable use of biological resources in their countries, and a training manual, Sustaining Uses of Biological Diversity, has been prepared by the IUCN in coordination with the Secretariat. The manual will be distributed to all participants at the workshop. The International Institute for Sustainable Development’s IISD Reporting Services (IISD RS) summary report of the workshop will be available online on Monday, 18 December 2006.
