FAO Knowledge Forum

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)’s new web site, the FAO Knowledge Forum, consolidates access to many of the organization’s online information resources. On Ask FAO users can interact directly with technical experts in particular fields of interest, and obtain answers to their questions. Best Practices provides a series of summaries that introduce project experience in FAO's areas of expertise. The thematic Knowledge Networks site links to virtual communities of professional staff and collaborating centres with common interests and objectives. This site led us to the sites of the African Soil Science Society with its announcement of the society’s fourth international conference to be held in Accra Ghana on 7 to 13 January 2007, and of TerrAfrica. TerrAfrica addresses land degradation through harmonized support for country-driven Sustainable Land Management (SLM) practices in sub-Saharan African countries.
