Draft Botswana CBNRM policy

Botswana's draft Community Based Natural Resources Management Policy is being debated in this session of Parliament. The policy, developed by the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, proposes a National Environmental Fund where funds derived from the sale of natural resource concessions and hunting quotas would be deposited, to ensure all citizens a common stake benefits from the country's natural resources. Thirty-five per cent of the proceeds would be retained by Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) would be empowered to oversee the implementation of CBNRM projects. You can find the draft policy in HOORC's Library.
