Ramsar and GTOS MOU
The Ramsar Convention secretariat and the Global Terrestrial Observing System (GTOS) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for joint actions related to “the conservation and wise use of all wetlands through local, regional and national actions and international cooperation, as a contribution towards achieving sustainable development throughout the world” earlier this month. The GTOS Programme, and in particular its Coastal-GTOS Initiative, plays a role in monitoring and assessing wetland ecosystems in order to address loss and degradation.
