The International Scientific Conference on Desertification and Drylands Research to take place in Tunis 19 - 21 June 2006, will focus on drylands research, conservation, policy and sustainable drylands development. Organised by UNESCO in partnership with several international organizations, the conference is held within the context of the United Nations International Year of Deserts and Desertification (2006) and will also mark 50 years of drylands research within the UN system.
