World Food Day is annually held on October 16 to commemorate the founding of the United Nations' (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Each year has a different theme with various events being held in and around the world. This year in Botswana , the event was held in Maun on Saturday 16th of October at Polokabatho farms belonging to Mr nd Mrs Wright along the Maun-Francistown road after Matshwane. The theme for the day was: "United against hunger" Among the guests of honour were the FAO representative, Mr D. Tibe, SADC's Deputy Executive Secretary Ms E. A. Mushobekwa, Maun-east Member of Parliament, Mr F. Ramsden and representatives from other departments and institutions.
