Last week Okavango Research Institute library staff successfully hosted a session on 'Preservation of Personal Biodiversity Data Collection.
This
session, under the theme of Data Stewardship - Rescue of Research Data
at Risk, highlighted the importance of preserving local
personal collections of biodiversity data, and discussed strategies and good
practice in making their content and context available to support ongoing
research. Presenters will shared case studies of rescued collections, including
both successes and failures. The session also included
other papers on different biodiversity data issues and challenges.
