ICDL Training and Testing

The International Computer Driving License (ICDL) is a certificate of competency in basic computer concepts of IT and MS Office 2013 package. It certifies your computer knowledge and practical computing skills. It is internationally recognised as a global standard for End-User Computer skills, and is widely recognised by governments, parastatals and private organisations. Computer proficiency is a basic requirement in most jobs in this digital era.
The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), University of Botswana (UB) is accredited by the ICDL Foundation in South Africa as an official Training and Testing Centre. CCE has been offering ICDL training and testing for over a decade.

ICDL Course Content

The ICDL Programme offered at UB is structured into six (6) modules called (Base Plus) examined through online practical tests. The course content covers key computing concepts and their application in the workplace and society. A certificate of competency is awarded by the ICDL Foundation for successful completion of the modules. The course comprises the following job relevant and cross-cutting discipline modules;
  1. Computer Essentials
  2. Word Processing
  3. Spreadsheets
  4. Using Databases
  5. Presentation
  6. Online Essentials
On an average, 15 hours of training will be provided in each module. Anyone can join the ICDL programme. However, those with access to a computer with MS Office 2013 for practice outside the 15 hours training will have an added advantage.
There will be two groups:
  1. Weekend group: 2 pm to 6 pm-Saturday and Sunday starting on 19 May 2018.
  2. Week day group: 6 pm to 8 pm-Monday to Thursday starting on 21 May 2018.
The course takes 14 weeks. Tests are conducted on Fridays upon notification.

Fees

The total course fee is P6 120.00 (Includes, Training 14 weeks, Six (6) tests, Candidate Registration Number (Life time) and Manual)
