Join the 9th Y-Care Pre Walk – 24km Otse Walk!

As part of BirdLife Botswana ’s public campaign “I want Botswana ’s vulture’s ALIVE, not DEAD”, BirdLife Botswana , Y-Care Trust and Cape Vulture Environmental Association are organising a walk to the Otse vulture colony, to increase interest in and appreciation of these magnificent birds, which are currently facing a crisis due to indiscriminate poisoning. On this walk you will experience vultures, another beautiful gorge and the Lover’s Hill! You will love it! Come as a corporate team or individual! Discover new beautiful gems of our country together with others who enjoy walking! Walk & Discover! Please feel free to forward this invitation to other you may think would like to come on the walk. Date: Saturday 14 September 2013 Meeting time: 06.15am (SHARP). Meeting Point: Camphill Garden Centre in Otse (along Lobatse Road , on your left side). Distance is 45 km from Game City circle to the Garden Centre. From the Garden Centre, we drive together to the Kgotla in Otse. Start walking: 06.30am (SHARP) Direction: Drive towards Lobatse, pass the Boatle/Ramotswa junction. Continue to the Garden centre on your left side. Distance: Game City circle – Garden Centre, 45 km. Walking Distance: 24 km. Duration: Approx 5 hours. Terrain Mostly flat and on gravel. The walk is only done in the bush. Bring: Water bottle, snacks/sandwich. Walking boots or well walked in takkies. Bring binocular if you have. Cost: Donation P20 (or more if you want) which will go to Cape Vulture Environmental Association in Otse. Route/Activity: Route: Otse Kgotla – Manyelanong game reserve – Segorong gorge – Lentswelabaratani (Lover’s Hill) - Otse Kgotla. At the game reserve, there will be bird viewing. Binoculars will be available. At Segorong gorge we will have a guided tour. We pass the Lover’s Hill before we reach Otse Kgotla. At the Kgotla we will gather, relax and hand over donations from the walkers to Cape Vulture Environmental Association in Otse.
