Getting the question of water and food security ‘right’ is not simply urgent but also important because water is a key ingredient for food production. Water is under increasing pressure due to competition over scarce resources and bad governance. Food insecurity still plagues the world in 2012, with about one billion people still experiencing hunger and malnourishment. It is imperative to secure the well-being of over a billion around the globe. Historically the response by the international community to food security as well as the global water crisis has not been adequate.
