Request for Proposals from SAREP for Water and Sanitation and Natural Resources Management Work


The Southern Africa Regional Environmental Program (SAREP) is seeking applications from Angolan, Botswana, Namibian, or International organizations to implement a multi-faceted program to address 1) community water supply and sanitation issues, and 2) natural resource management issues in Angola, Botswana, and Namibia. The Southern Africa Regional Environmental Program (SAREP) is seeking applications from Angolan, Botswana, Namibian, or International organizations to implement a multi-faceted program to address 1) community water supply and sanitation issues, and 2) natural resource management issues in Angola, Botswana, and Namibia. Proposals for water and sanitation work should aim to increase the supply of potable water and improved sanitation technologies while preserving river flows and water quality to the maximum extent possible.

Proposals for natural resource management work should aim at helping communities in Angola (Cuando-Cubango Province), Botswana (Ngamiland District) and Namibia (Kavango and Caprivi Regions) to improve land management and adaptive capacity cope with climate vulnerability, and to engage in conservation-based income generating activities. SAREP is a three- year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). SAREP works with and supports OKACOM to implement initiatives of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) in the Cubango-Okavango River Basin (CORB) and the Caprivi Region in Namibia that address threats to ecosystem services and biodiversity within priority shared river basins, improve access to water supply and sanitation services, and strengthen regional capacity to respond to effects of climate change and HIV/AIDS.
