Community Service Initiative by DEA

The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) introduced its Community Service Day initiative late last year. This initiative is in line with what His Excellency the President has encouraged: that all the Ministries dedicate time to do community service by working and giving support to underprivileged families. The aim of this initiative is towards eradicating extreme poverty . The first of this initiative was targeted at disadvantaged families in Tsolofelo, where a group of women in that community were taught skills on gardening and horticulture. The initiative was the construction of water harvesting tanks as well as shade netting to protect the plants.
