The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has recently published a new brochure describing its programme to encourage investment in water infrastructure in the southern African region.The SADC Water Infrastructure Programme covers water supply and sanitation, community livelihoods and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) demonstration work as well as the Regional Strategic Water Infrastructure Development Programme's work in project preparation, resource mobilisation and capacity building. Key targets of the programme include developing, by 2015, the water infrastructure needed to double land under irrigation, and to halve the number of people without access to drinking water and good sanitation.
