Malaria entomology and parasitology techniques training course


HOORC recently conducted a two week training course on malaria entomology and parasitology techniques for one laboratory Assistant, a researcher and a Graduate student. The training was conducted by Mr. Elijah Chirebvu, an entomologist from the National Institute of Health Research .The course involved theoretical and practical aspects of each of the two disciplines namely entomology and parasitology. Topics covered were mosquito bionomics, and sampling and identification methods, general malaria parasitology that include malaria parasite diagnostic techniques . The team also undertook field visits to Tubu and Shorobe to do mosquito sampling . The main purpose of the training was to train the team that would be involved in the eco-health project and enhance their understanding of different aspects of the eco-health programme.
