Grass identification and rangeland management course

A four day course in grass identification is being held at HOORC's Natural Collections facility this week. Taught by Mr Frits van Oudtshoorn of Bushveld Eco Services, South Africa, the course includes theory and practice in grass identification and grazing land management. The students, from various government departments and the University of Botswana, are participating in an excursion to collect grasses in the field. The grazing management component of the course also includes a practical session in assessment of rangeland condition and grazing capacity.
