UNESCO PCCP programme

UNESCO's International Hydrological Programme (IHP) hosts From Potential Conflict to Cooperation Potential (PCCP), a programme to address situations where water users need support to manage their shared water resources in a peaceful and equitable manner, offering its resources to coordinate similar efforts and disseminate best practices of water conflict resolution and cooperation building. A conference, co-organized by the programme and the Chirac Foundation, held in Paris on November 13th, 2008, discussed issues such as the global financial crisis and its impact on shared water management, the fundamental right over water and the lessons that can be learned from the work of successful basin organisations. The PCCP web site provides access to the full text of studies and capacity building tools it has sponsored since 2001.
