Ivory auctions

Four ivory auctions, conducted in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe between 28th October and 6th November, 2008 under the supervision of the CITES Secretariat, sold 102 tonnes of elephant ivory to Chinese and Japanese accredited traders for a total amount of 15,400,000 USD. The ivory sold was all from legal, government-owned stocks. The official CITES press release is available online.
