The 2008 flood

HOORC geographer Dr Cornelis Vanderpost reports that recently increased outflows from the Delta in the south-west have resulted in Lake Ngami once again filling with water. The two MODIS images below show how the size of the lake has increased between August 10th (first image) and August 18th (second image).

At Maun, the Thamalakane River also has plenty of water:

In HOORC's Library, you can find Flooding dynamics in a large low-gradient alluvial fan, the Okavango Delta, Botswana, from analysis and interpretation of a 30-year hydrometric record by P. Wolski and M. Murray-Hudson.
