2008 Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report
The second annual Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2008 was released by the World Economic Forum in March, with the theme Balancing Economic Development and Environmental Sustainability. The report's Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) measures the factors and policies that make it attractive to develop the tourism sector in different countries. The rankings cover 130 countries around the world, using a combination of data from publicly available sources, international tourism institutions and experts, and the results of a comprehensive annual survey conducted by the World Economic Forum, with its network of research institutes and business organizations. Botswana came 87 in the TTCI list of countries, Namibia 93 and Zambia 101. You can find the rankings online and, in HOORC's Library, The competitive destination : a sustainable tourism perspective by J.R. Brent Ritchie and Geoffrey I. Crouch.
