New in HOORC's Library: Sustainable Management of Headwater Resources

Sustainable management of headwater resources : research from Africa and India, a collection of papers presented at the international conference held in Nairobi in 2002 and published by the United Nations University Press, offers case studies from fragile headwater areas in the two continents. Examples from Ethiopia, Rwanda and Kenya describe the effects increased land use and soil erosion on river and lake levels, while some of the Indian studies look at the relationship between rangelands and water resources. A useful summing-up chapter also reports follow-up to the Nairobi Declaration for the International Year of Freshwater (2003) and results from the 2004 NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Environmental Role of Wetlands. You can find the book in HOORC's Library.
