New dragonfly research

Dragonfly specialist Jens Kipping from BioCart, Leipzig, Germany passed though HOORC's library today, following eight weeks of fieldwork in the Okavango Delta and Zambia. The purpose of the field trip was to compare the insects -- dragonflies and damselflies -- in the swamps of the Okavango Delta and the Barotse floodplain in western Zambia. Results of his work include a new checklist for the dragonflies in Botswana and a description of one species new to science and 22 species new to Botswana. Both publications are forthcoming through Cimbebasia, journal of the National Museum of Namibia. In HOORC's Library, you can find Kipping's Dragonfly research in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
