NSF collaborative research workshop report

The report of the Workshop for Enhancing Collaborative Research on the Environment in Sub-Saharan Africa held in Arlington, Virginia USA in January 2005 has been made available online. The workshop, sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), found that, while much leading-edge research is being carried out in sub-Saharan Africa, the potential broad impact of much of this work is currently limited because of poor interaction or collaboration among projects, programs, disciplines, or countries. Climate, biodiversity, animal and human disease, land use and land-cover change and water issues were identified as areas for increased NSF research support. The full report can be read online or downloaded.
