Programme to address land degradation in Africa

TerrAfrica -- a World Bank supported programme to promote country-driven sustainable land management -- was discussed and announced in both Nairobi -- at the United Nations Conference of the Parties on Desertification -- and Pretoria this week. The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) will coordinate the programme, managing more than 100-million US Dollars from the Global Environmental Facility over a period of four years in support of rural development. Read the World Bank's description of the programme.
