Environmental Long-Term Observatories of Southern Africa (ELTOSA)

Visiting student plant ecologist Harmony Dalgleish from Kansas State University visited the HOORC Library today, looking for information about budbanks and grassland ecology. She has just come from the meeting of Environmental Long-Term Observatories of Southern Africa (ELTOSA) in Malawi. The ELTOSA network is made up of southern African countries embarking on time-series environmental research, and monitoring programmes delivering time-series datasets. The network was established in 2001 in recognition of the need for long-term large-scale studies of environmental change -- so far, six southern African countries are involved. HOORC hosted the ELTOSA workshop in 2003.
