New at HOORC Library: rural poverty, empowerment and sustainable livelihoods
In its introduction, the editor acknowledges that the elimination of poverty has become the overriding objective of many inter-national development agencies, national governments and NGOs. However, poverty elimination or alleviation is not exclusively a donor driven phenomenon. Most Governments have also committed themselves and have pursued substantive poverty reduction initiatives in terms of policies and vibrant civil society associations representing and working among the poor have also undertaken practical; micro-level initiatives to protect vulnerable livelihoods. The book sets out to explore the nature of poverty and interpret it across a range of policy reforms and project interventions in different geographical settings. The book is available in the HOORC Library.
